What’s your biggest healthcare business challenge?
Jessica Hughes is a Director at VMG Health within the Community Health & FQHC Optimization Practice. She specializes in financial leadership, revenue cycle management, and strategic financial planning for Federally Qualified Health Centers and community health organizations. In this role, Jessica serves health centers based on their various needs whether CFO coaching, recruiting or serving as a fractional CFO providing executive-level financial oversight, budget development, and strategic guidance for organizations navigating leadership transitions or operating without a senior financial officer. Her work spans revenue cycle evaluation, accounting systems and policy development, personnel and operational analysis, and the high-level financial decision-making that community health center leaders depend on to remain financially sustainable while fulfilling their mission.
Prior to joining VMG Health, Jessica brings 18 years of experience as a financial leader in healthcare, where she established a track record of upholding financial guidelines, standards, and best practices across complex organizations. Jessica was the Chief Financial Officer for Siouxland Community Health Center, where she conducted and administered fiscal operations. She went on to become the Director of Finance for Hawarden Regional Healthcare where she directed the organization’s financial and budget activities to fund operations, maximize investments, and increase efficiency. From there, Jessica went on to Mercyone Siouxland Medical Center as the Director of Finance. There, she provided leadership and direction in the annual independent audit and the analysis of financial information.
Jessica earned a Bachelor of Science with a double major in Accounting and Human Resource Management from Briar Cliff University and a Master of Health Administration from Walden University.
