Kay Ferrell, based in Nashville, TN, is a Director in VMG Health’s Strategy Consulting division, bringing more than 30 years of experience in healthcare strategic consulting and valuation. She advises hospitals and health systems on strategic planning, physician alignment, and regulatory projects including Fair Market Valuations, Provider Needs Assessments, and Community Health Needs Assessments.

Kay’s healthcare career began at HCA Healthcare, where she served as Director of Development & Acquisitions in Physician Services and advised executive leadership on physician practice acquisitions, joint ventures, and compliance strategies. She went on to co-found IASIS Healthcare, helping raise $865 million to acquire fifteen hospitals, where she served as Vice President and Director of Development. Prior to joining VMG Health, she spent two decades as a Principal at Carnahan Group directing valuation and strategic consulting projects nationwide. Kay’s earlier experience includes managing $40 million in NIH cancer research funding at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center and financial roles at Merrill Lynch and Legg Mason Wood Walker.

Kay holds an MBA in Corporate Finance from Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She is a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) and an active member of the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts (NACVA), co-founder and board member of the Owen Healthcare Alumni Association, and an inaugural member of the BVR Leadership Council.
