Laurie Brown is a Senior Consultant in the Coding Audit and Compliance division and is based in the Phoenix office. She provides ongoing operational and compliance support to ophthalmology and medical aesthetic practices. Her responsibilities include enhancing practice flow and efficiency, conducting revenue cycle management (RCM) assessments, recruiting and integrating new physicians, managing coding, billing, and auditing processes, overseeing human resources, training staff and management in practice leadership, and ensuring regulatory compliance including MACRA/MIPS.

Before joining VMG Health, Laurie spent nearly 20 years as the practice administrator for a renowned cataract and refractive surgery practice in Eugene, Oregon. With over 30 years of experience in the ophthalmic industry, she has held managerial, clinical, and surgical roles.

Laurie has received the William E. Rose, Jr. Pinnacle Award for regulatory compliance excellence and has served on the governing boards for Ophthalmic Women Leaders (OWL), International Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (IJCAHPO), American Society of Ophthalmic Administrators (ASOA), and National Board for the Certification of Ophthalmic Executives (NBCOE). She is an active educator and author of numerous articles in medical, association, and industry journals.

Laurie holds certifications as a Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT), Certified Ophthalmic Executive (COE), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA), Ophthalmic Scribe Certification (OSC), Certified Patient Service Specialist (CPSS), and Certified Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt (LSSYB). She earned her Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Northwest Christian University in Eugene, Oregon.
