Mark Sprague is a Director at VMG Health within the Community Health & FQHC Optimization Practice. He specializes in operational assessments, financial leadership, and revenue cycle management for Federally Qualified Health Centers and community health organizations. In this role, Mark serves clients both as a strategic advisor and as a hands-on financial leader—providing fractional and interim CFO support for health centers navigating leadership transitions or in need of executive-level financial guidance, while also conducting operational and revenue cycle assessments that translate complex performance data into actionable, leadership-ready recommendations. His approach combines direct engagement with staff at all levels with structured analysis of system-generated data, surfacing both structural and operational opportunities that reporting alone may not reveal.

Prior to joining VMG Health, Mark served as Director of Clinic Operations for a Tribal FQHC in Northern California and as a Service Line Manager for the region’s fourth-largest health system, where he oversaw outpatient services across internal medicine, geriatrics, and palliative care. He also worked as a Financial Analyst and Business Manager for the Hawaii Medicaid program’s fiscal agent and spent several years in the Financial Planning & Analysis department of California’s second-largest healthcare provider. Mark’s experience across healthcare operations, revenue cycle management, financial analysis, and clinical services provides him with a comprehensive perspective when guiding clients through complex organizational assessments.

Mark earned his bachelor’s degree in Economics from Elon University in Elon, NC.
