Sean Hartzell is a Managing Director at VMG Health, leading the Ambulatory Surgery Center & Specialty Consulting Practice. In this role, Sean will continue to elevate the firm’s industry-leading ASC service line; unique offerings for specialties requiring discrete attention on customer access and acquisition, conversion, and retention; and leadership and board development and training. Sean is a trusted advisor to healthcare providers and executives, and clients value his experience with ASC alignment strategies, joint ventures, tactical planning, financial analysis, and operational transformation. 

Prior to joining VMG Health, Sean spent nearly 20 years at ECG, where he helped build a variety of different product and service offerings. He led the Strategy and Transactions vertical within the Ambulatory Surgery practice. In addition to his ASC work, Hartzell spearheaded over 50 hospital-physician alignment and affiliation transactions nationwide, totaling more than $1.5B in total consideration. Sean designed category-changing physician compensation applications and helped many organizations transform their organizations financially and operationally.  

Sean holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Cornell University.
