Michael Genord, M.D., MBA, is a Managing Director within the Health Plan Services Practice at VMG Health. A seasoned healthcare executive with more than a decade of senior leadership experience across the payer and provider landscape, he serves as a trusted leader and advisor for his colleagues and clients. He will lead the expansion of the firm’s health plan consulting services and help clients navigate complex challenges, improve performance, and identify opportunities for sustainable growth.
Prior to joining VMG Health, Mike most recently served as Executive Vice President of Henry Ford Health and as President & CEO of Health Alliance Plan (HAP), a $2.4B provider-sponsored health plan serving 430,000 members across Michigan. At HAP, Mike drove sustained 4–4.5 Medicare Advantage Star ratings, led the CareSource joint venture that made 65% of Michigan Medicaid lives eligible for the combined plan, and built product partnerships with physician organizations and health systems across the state. Earlier, he led HealthPlus of Michigan through a landmark merger to create one of the state’s largest HMOs.
A board-certified physician who began his career in clinical practice, Mike brings a rare combination of clinical, operational, and financial perspective. He has chaired national boards, including the Alliance of Community Health Plans and the Health Plan Alliance, and has been recognized among Crain’s Notable Leaders in Health Care and DBusiness’s 500 Most Powerful Executives in Detroit.
