Appointment reinforces the firm’s expanding ASC and specialized healthcare advisory services
Dallas, TX – VMG Health, the leading healthcare consulting firm for business performance, is pleased to announce the appointment of a new Managing Director, Sean Hartzell, within its Ambulatory, Surgical Center & Specialty Consulting Practice.
Based in Maryland, Hartzell brings over 20 years of experience in healthcare strategy, operations, and transactions. Before joining VMG Health, he spent nearly 20 years at ECG, where he led the Strategy and Transactions vertical within the Ambulatory Surgery practice. In that role, Hartzell helped increase that vertical more than 450% over four years by expanding internal and external networks, delivering thought leadership, and leading high-impact engagements focused on surgery migration, ambulatory strategy, joint ventures, and feasibility studies.

In addition to his ASC work, Hartzell spearheaded over 50 hospital-physician alignment and affiliation transactions nationwide, totaling more than $1.5B in total consideration. He has guided clients through alignment strategy, organizational performance assessments, compensation design, and transaction structuring during negotiations. Hartzell’s work strengthens integration, stabilizes markets, and builds comprehensive specialty networks for healthcare organizations.
