Job Summary

VMG Health is seeking a Director of IT Operations and Technology to oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of VMG Health’s infrastructure and operations with a special focus on compliance and cybersecurity. This role requires a versatile individual who can transition seamlessly between hands-on technical tasks and strategic planning to drive the enterprise’s technological direction forward.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of IT professionals responsible for deploying, maintaining, and supporting the company’s IT infrastructure and operations.
  • Provide leadership to IT infrastructure engineering and operations teams, fostering a service-oriented culture to support application and development engineering teams.
  • Culture leader with a sharp focus on career/skill development
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive IT infrastructure and operations strategy aligned with VMG Health’s business objectives.
  • Lead enterprise IT compliance and cybersecurity best practice initiatives
  • Lead the organization’s DevOps strategy, focusing on automation for Infrastructure as Code (IAC) and enabling application and product teams.
  • Partner with other leaders to implement and maintain the Cloud strategy across all levels (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).
  • Ensure the company’s IT systems and applications are secure, reliable, available, and efficient.
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
  • Oversee the execution of IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) processes, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures governing IT infrastructure and operations, including disaster recovery and cloud infrastructure management.
  • Establish processes for monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving production incidents efficiently.
  • Monitor Infrastructure services and security, providing regular updates to senior leadership.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Required Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in information systems or a related discipline.
  • Preferred Education: Master’s degree in information systems or a related discipline.
  • Experience: 10+ years of related experience, including 5+ years of previous management experience.
  • License/Certifications: Relevant certifications preferred; ITIL, Azure, M365, CISSP, CCNP etc.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Preferred Technology Proficiencies:
    • Microsoft (M365, Azure, PowerBI, Synapse, Data Factory, SharePoint)
    • Networking (firewalls, Meraki, Cisco switches)
    • Misc (Adobe, Paylocity, HubSpot, FreshService)
  • Proven IT leadership with staff development skills.
  • Ability to manage complex infrastructure with 24/7 availability and support.
  • Experience with regulatory compliance and best practices in security.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft technologies, SAN, data communication hardware, cloud technologies, and ITIL concepts.
  • Customer service orientation and experience in DevOps and Agile methodologies.
  • Travel: This role will have 4-5 direct reports initially and will include travel up to 25%.
