Patrick McGinn

Manager

Patrick McGinn is a Manager in the Compensation Division at VMG Health and is based in the Nashville office. Patrick specializes in providing valuation, consulting, and advisory services for compensation arrangements. He has particular experience in arrangement for clinical services, on-call coverage, medical director and physician executive services and hospital-based coverage arrangements.

He received a Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science from Davidson College and a Master of Science in Management from Wake Forest University. Patrick is currently pursing the Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) designation through the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts.

Caroline Dean is a Manager in the Compensation Division at VMG Health and is based in the Nashville office. Her focus is on providing valuation services for compensation arrangements within the healthcare services industry. She has extensive experience in valuations related to clinical services, on-call coverage, medical director and physician executive services, hospital-based coverage arrangements, and large professional services arrangements.

She holds the Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) designation from the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts (NACVA). In addition, she has been published in the American Health Law Association, Becker’s Hospital Review, and the Health Care Compliance Association.

Dean graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the Haslam College of Business at the University of Tennessee Knoxville.

Scott Buchanan, based in Dallas, TX, is a Director of Solution Architecture at VMG Health. Scott has nearly 30 years of experience in healthcare technology, and he is an expert in application architecture and development team management. His career spans multiple industries, showcasing his technical expertise and leadership in a variety of projects.

Prior to joining VMG Health, Scott has managed and architected several significant projects, including the Compliance Risk Analyzer (CRA) project, a practice benchmarking system for the American Medical Association (AMA), and a medical practice analytics system used by accountants across thousands of practices.

Scott’s contributions extend beyond healthcare, including work on POS systems for Little Caesar’s restaurants, property management systems for Equity Residential Properties and dispatch systems for a national tank trailer line. His technical expertise has earned him speaking engagements at developer conferences across North and South America, Europe, and Asia. In addition, Scott hosted a developer user group for nine years.

Jeff Carson, based in Hanover, MA, is the Director of IT Operations & Technology at VMG Health. He has over two decades of experience in information systems, security, and technology. Jeff excels in designing, building, updating, and managing mission-critical environments. His leadership has been pivotal in improving IT Infrastructure and Security at multiple organizations. 

Prior to joining VMG Health, Jeff held various leadership roles, including Senior Director of Infrastructure Operations and Director of Technical Operations, where he led large-scale infrastructure teams. His work spanned overseeing daily operations, datacenter consolidations, network architecture, and disaster recovery implementations across multiple organizations.

Jeff earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

Bert Amison, based in Dallas, TX, is a Director in the Coding Audit & Compliance division at VMG Health. Bert has 30 years of experience in enhancing healthcare organizations’ revenue cycles and providing a range of services, including transaction due diligence, internal coding investigations, regulatory compliance audits, and physician documentation education. His extensive knowledge spans acute and post-acute care settings, supporting clients with complex revenue cycle and HIM needs.

Prior to joining VMG Health, Bert founded Healthcare Networks to address the industry’s evolving needs in revenue cycle management. He also led the documentation and coding integrity practices for Alvarez and Marsal and KPMG, and he worked with Arthur Andersen’s Healthcare Consulting Practice for 10 years. His project highlights include spearheading compliance assessments for Home Health organizations across 10 states and executing over 100 Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) implementations across the country.

Otis Hendershott serves as Chief Data and Technology Officer for VMG Health and is accountable for overall technology/data strategy and execution for the enterprise. This role encompasses InfoSec, enterprise/data architecture, digital properties, vendor and partner management, tech product, I&O and technology support functions.

Otis came to VMG Health from United Health Group’s Optum Technology division. His expertise encompasses a wide spectrum of healthcare domains, including payor services, care delivery, pharmacy benefit management, complex conditions management, value-based care, electronic medical record implementations, and utilization management. During his tenure at Optum, Otis played pivotal roles in shaping the organization’s technological landscape. Notably, he led the establishment of a global software engineering organization, instrumental in developing an industry-leading clinical support tool tailored for oncologists. Additionally, Otis provided strategic direction and oversaw technology execution for OptumCare’s Northeast/Midwest Region, contributing significantly to the company’s operational excellence and market positioning.

Jen Johnson currently serves as the Chief Commercial Officer for VMG Health which includes the oversight of branding, thought leadership, and affinity groups. This role includes service line integration initiatives, and the firm’s go-to-market strategy.

As a Managing Director with VMG Health, Jen Johnson has overseen the Compensation Arrangements division which requires a deep understanding of the fair market value challenges, market data, and regulatory guidelines associated with valuing professional service arrangements within the healthcare industry. She has been published and presented on these topics over 50 times nationally through organizations such as the American Health Lawyers Association, the American Bar Association, the Health Care Compliance Association, Becker’s Hospital Review, and the Healthcare Financial Management Association.

Jen’s role serving clients included developing internal compensation tools and solutions for some of the largest health systems in the country. Her experience includes providing full FMV opinions for any type of compensation arrangement including clinical services, administrative services, call coverage, co-management agreements, and pay for performance arrangements (shared savings and quality incentives). She has also served as an expert witness on several occasions in matters of Fair Market Value.

Jen’s valuation career began with KPMG, LLP in the Forensic and Litigation Services Department where she worked directly under experts in the field of finance, accounting, and economics. She has also worked at the University of North Texas as a finance professor. Prior to that, Jen earned a BBA and MBA in Finance as well as the Chartered Financial Analyst designation, while working for several companies in a consulting capacity. Her consulting work included business valuation, financial projections, and operational systematizations.

Anthony Domanico is a Director at VMG Health and is the head of VMG Health’s provider compensation design and consulting service line. With nearly 15 years of experience in the valuation and design of provider compensation arrangements, Domanico’s practice has a national focus on compensation design and consulting services for both employed and non-employed physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs) within the healthcare services industry.

He specializes in assisting clients in the development and design of clinical, administrative, and academic compensation structures that align provider incentives with the mission, vision, values, and strategic goals of the organization.

In addition to compensation design and consulting, Domanico values compensation for professional service arrangements that include clinical coverage, call coverage, medical directorships, academic and faculty appointments, physician consulting, clinical co-management, administrative management, physician executive, and many other types of service arrangements. His clients include for-profit and not-for-profit health systems, academic medical centers, and other publicly owned and privately held healthcare entities.

Prior to joining VMG Health, Domanico was a Senior Consultant at SullivanCotter and focused on employed provider compensation design, fair market value, and commercial reasonableness analyses. Before that he worked for two not-for-profit health systems in Minneapolis, Minnesota focused on employed and non-employed provider in the disciplines of finance, human resources, and business development.

Domanico holds a bachelor’s degree in social psychology from Beloit College in Beloit, Wisconsin. He also holds a Master of Business Administration from Hamline University in Saint Paul, Minnesota. He is designated as a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) through the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts.

Holden Godat is a Director in the Professional Services Agreements division at VMG Health and is based in the Dallas office. His focus includes valuation and consulting services for professional service arrangements within the healthcare services industry. He specializes in valuing a wide variety of agreements and agreement structures including clinical services, medical directorships, physician executive services, on-call coverage, and administrative management arrangements.

Godat holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the Neeley School of Business at Texas Christian University. He is designated as a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) through the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts.

Ben Minnis is a Manager in the Compensation Arrangements Division at VMG Health with a focus on compensation design and consulting services for both employed and non-employed physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs). Specifically, he assists clients in the development and design of clinical, administrative, and academic compensation arrangements that align provider incentives with the mission, vision, values and strategic goals of the organization.

In addition to compensation design and consulting, Mr. Minnis has valued compensation for professional service arrangements that include clinical coverage, call coverage, medical directorships, academic and faculty appointments, physician consulting, administrative management, and other service arrangements. Clients include for-profit and not-for-profit health systems, academic medical centers, and other publicly owned and privately held healthcare entities.

Prior to joining VMG Health, Mr. Minnis was a Physician Compensation Consultant at a large not-for-profit health system where he assisted with a wide range of provider compensation projects including compensation design & implementation, fair market value, professional service agreements, and compensation processing. Before that, he worked as an Analyst for SullivanCotter, focusing on employed provider compensation design, fair market value, and commercial reasonableness analyses.

Mr. Minnis holds a Bachelor of Science degree in kinesiology from the University of Minnesota, and a Master of Health Administration degree from the University of Kentucky.
